The Sunrise Project Community Consultative Committee (CCC) provides a forum for discussion between the company and representatives of the local community, stakeholder groups and the local councils on issues directly relating to the company’s activities.

Sunrise Energy Metals is committed to understanding the expectations and concerns of our stakeholders. We achieve this through open and transparent consultation and engagement. We use a range of consultation tools to build respectful relationships including individual stakeholder and public meetings, advertised community gatherings, regular newsletters and the operation of shopfronts in Condobolin and Parkes. Our team work across our communities of influence.
In addition, we have a toll-free Community Complaints Line – available 24 hours, 7 days a week. If you have a formal complaint please call 1800 952 277 and speak with the operator. A member of our team will respond to all calls within 24 hours or the next business day.

Environmental performance is crucial to the success of our Projects and maintaining our regulatory and social licence to operate. Sunrise considers environmental impacts and risk in all our activities, including our exploration projects.
Sunrise has undertaken a range of environmental monitoring including ambient noise, air quality, surface water and groundwater.
Sunrise also reports annually to the Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure on the environmental performance of the Sunrise Project. Copies of the Annual Reviews are available below.
Sunrise has prepared a number of environmental management plans as required by the Development Consent. These documents can be found below.
The Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) assesses the development of the Sunrise Project (previously the Syerston Nickel Laterite Project). The EIS was prepared in accordance with the provisions of Part 4 of the NSW Environment Planning and Assessment Act (1979) to accompany the development application for the Project. Development Consent for the Project was granted in 2001. The Development Consent has since been modified in 2005, 2006, 2017, 2018 and 2022.
The Sunrise Nickel-Cobalt Project was granted Major Project Status (MPS) through the Federal Government’s Major Projects Facilitation Agency (MPFA) in December 2021. This was renewed in February 2025 for a further three years.
MPS recognises projects that are economically significant to Australia and provides opportunities to secure inter-agency support across federal and state authorities to streamline permitting and approvals processes.
