Technology

Both the Sunrise Battery Materials Project and the Syerston Scandium Project have been designed to utilise off-the-shelf technology and equipment for the processing of metals. The flow sheets of both projects have been validated through extensive metallurgical testing and piloting over years and multiple campaigns.

The utilisation of a resin in pulp (RIP) process where ion exchange resins are directly contacted with leached slurry, can achieve an extraction rate of more than 98% of contained metal in solution. Ion exchange resins are ideal for recovery and concentration of lower concentration metals, with reduced capital and operating costs compared with conventional processing flowsheets. They are applied successfully across rare earths, lithium and other specialty metals.
